Cabin | Fever

So, in the past week or so we've had a few storms roll our way. From freezing temps, to light snow, to a foot of it then to freezing rain. Out power was out a few days so we both got a little cabin fever. But the landscape was stunning. Seeing everything covered in a blanket of white; just the little details that drew my attention. I ventured outside to see what I could see. And my goal was to capture it! Here are just a few photos for now. More to come! Hope you're enjoying your new year!

Josh is one of the funniest, random, most likeable people I know! It's been a lot of fun getting to know him and see him grow as a person. I first met Josh a year ago after he got back from a deployment with the Army. We both started volunteering with military kids on JBLM Fort Lewis and it's been so much fun! We enjoyed this foggy shoot, laughing, talking about life and his growing Facebook page S.U.G.A.R (Sarcastically Unknown Genuine Appropriate Randomness).

Runny noses and smiles accompanied this sunny, frosty shoot! The sun was out, the air was cold and crisp and we even spotted some ducks waddling around on a frozen pond! Such a sweet, joyful family and I loved being able to capture these little moments :) And finally, the long awaited preview!

Let's just say after doing this shoot with the Fischer family, i thought long and hard about having a little "nugget" of my own! And if you know me, i don't say that often ;) I know you'll understand after you see these precious and beautiful photos of baby Emma. This was such a special shoot for me, and i loved being able to capture these little moments with Jamie, Courtney and baby Emma.

Oh my goodness. This shoot was so much fun! I had the privilege of taking infant portraits of Charity when she was only a few weeks old. Now, a few years later, i got a e-mail from Katy asking if i'd take some pictures of Charity again, for Christmas cards. How could i say no? What a sweet, vibrant little girl she is! Sharon | Fitness

Sharon approached me a few months back with an exciting idea. Fitness photography! Sharon is one of the best trainers at a gym i go to on Fort Lewis, and i was so thrilled and honored to be able to take these fitness shots for her! After months of tireless training, she placed second in the Women's Masters division at the Northern Classic, Bikini, Figure and Bodybuilding Competition! For it being her first competition, she ROCKED it and i'm so proud and inspired by her determination and stamina. These are a few of my favorites from our gym shoot last weekend :) Thanks for your patience, Sharon!! I hope it was worth the wait!

That was a close call! The other day, when trying to sign into my google e-mail account, i noticed i couldn't gain access. So, i naturally tried again... and again, and AGAIN. Still, no success. I then tried to sign into my Blogger account. And when i noticed that i was denied access, i started to panic. It then came to mind the other day i set up a Google+ account and it started pulling all my photos from my various Google sites, ( picasa, gmail, blogger) and connecting them with my + account. I went to delete them and was under the impression that by deleting them from my account, it would only delete them from Google+. Well, that brings me to that day when i tried to log on to my gmail accounts. Apparently, i had not only deleted all my photos BUT the accounts themselves! Who in the world would make that an option and then not state that more clearly?! Of course i don't want to delete all my accounts! At this point i was fumed. Trying to contact Google proved to be a bit of a struggle. After a phone call and a few e-mails, i just let it go. All of my work and contacts, just gone. Just like that.

Well, i ended up getting a response from Google saying that they couldn't prove that the account belonged to me and i needed to pay 30 cents to submit another request for account recovery. 30 cents, really?! So i did it. And that 30 cents paid off! I got an e-mail from Google this morning saying my account was restored and they were, "happy to have me back".

So, all in all, i'm relieved to have the blog up and running again; but hope to have a WordPress blog in the works very soon! So, check back for updates in that arena :)

Some recent happenings in our lives:

After almost 8 years of active duty service in the Army, my husband Derek is finally out! We celebrated with cake and family two weeks ago. :) I'm so proud of him and his service, and have been blessed to have been apart of the military community and comradery. We're nervous and excited to see where we land next! Civilian world, here we are! Be gentle, please!

I celebrated my 27th birthday on the 4th, and enjoyed a delicious dinner with family and close friends. Still feeling 23, and i probably will for a long time! But that's all that matters, right? ;)

When the Sweet Family asked me to take some photos with their family at the Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, i jumped at the offer! This was the kids first trip to the zoo, so it was a special experience to be apart of. The weather was just right, and getting to see the kids light up when they saw the animals was a delight! Being a photographer, i've always tried to surround myself with people who inspire me. Devon Michelle is one of those people. Since i'm usually the one behind the camera, it's always fun to be on the other side, feeling awkward but having a ton of fun! Plus it's a great learning experience on many levels! Meet Phil Keaggy

Just wanted to share a photo with you from last weekend. Derek (my husband) and I had the privilege of going to see Phil Keaggy, one of the world's best guitarists, in concert. Derek's younger brother, Ryan and my mother and father in-law also went. My father-in-law, Mike ended up running into Phil before the concert and mentioned he had his two sons with him who recently got back from a deployment in Iraq. Phil told Mike to meet him after the concert so he could shake hands and meet them. After an amazing concert, we waited for Phil to come out of his dressing room and were the first people to talk to him! I asked if i could snap a photo of him with Derek and Ryan and he excitedly obliged. Such a truly authentic, genuine man. It was a great honor for everyone!

One of the happiest moments of my life was getting to see my soldier run up to me after a 12 month deployment in Iraq! I can't tell you how happy i am to have him back! I'm looking forward to taking some time off and focusing on jump starting our lives together once again!
